What’s in it for me?

A/B testing is an easy yet effective tactics for testing your product or concept with minimal efforts, within a short time frame.

By being able to see which design version or feature customers reacted to more, you will be able to alter your product strategy and deliver a killer product they are likely to love.

When & how to use it?

You may find this template handy, whenever you plan a series of A/B testing sessions, be it  about product design, features, landing pages, or ad texts, and need to collaborate in a small or medium team, which can be distributed.

The simple steps below will guide you through setting up your A/B testing project and team collaboration in Infolio.

Step 1. New project & tasks

Sign up to Infolio,

and then create a new project, by clicking on “+ Add project” at the left bottom in the projects panel. Name the project, e.g. “A/B Testing”, and then navigate to the tab “Project tasks”, which is actually a Kanban board for task management.

Then nail down all your project tasks under the “General” column (so far – irrespective of the specifics), by adding each one with “+” (e.g. in our project – “Test 010|Condensed Layout”, “Test 003|New Headline Copy Testing”, etc.).

Step 2. Custom lists & statuses

When all the tasks of your A/B testing project have been captured, create custom task Lists (e.g. per each week “Week 1”, “Week 2”, etc.) and distribute the task cards among the lists.

Then, move over to creating custom Statuses that reflect your specific workflow: first, group tasks “by Status”, then add your statuses (e.g. “In review”, “Research & hypothesis”, “Creating variations”, etc.). Drag all your tasks to the respective column. Voila! Your project is now set up!

Step 3. Assigning tasks

It’s common knowledge that tasks are better managed, when assigned to specific team members. To assign tasks to your team, open a chosen task card and then click on “Assign task” and “Set due date”  - to take the corresponding actions.

If you want to check who in your team is busy with what, group the tasks “by Assignee” and you will see tasks assigned to each team member presented in columns, in real time.

Step 4. Project collaboration

To collaborate on any task, you can link a virtual space to it by opening the task card and clicking on “Attach files, link spaces and more”. Drag the task related files onto the linked space or attach them right to the card itself.

Often it’s convenient to run team collaboration within a common team space. Click on “+” below the Project chat to create a team space/board, name it, e.g. “Project Assets” and place all the content, be it notes, research findings, copy drafts, or web links onto it. For your convenience Infolio offers a built-in Chat to discuss project issues, without switching to other tools.

Step 5. Progress tracking

In order to track the progress of your A/B testing activities, you can group tasks “by Status” (e.g. "In review") or “by List” (e.g. "Week 2"), to identify road blocks and take action early. Change the status of any task by either dragging the task card to the respective column (e.g. “Closed”) or by opening the card and changing its status in the upper left corner.
